The Almond Valley Heritage Centre, which incorporates the Livingston Mill Farm is the official museum of the Scottish Shale Oil Industry - but it has a lot more to offer than just that.

The Museum, which is the first place you enter tells visitors about the build up of the West Lothian area and James "Paraffin" Young's Shale Oil invention. The Museum is full of things to do including a short mine for you to walk down, interactive games, computer programs and also several information boards as well as a hands-on experience.

The magnificent ruins of Linlithgow Palace are set in a park beside a loch.

All of the Stewart kings lived at the Palace. Numerous renovations to the palace’s grand facades and chambers were carried out as each sought to create the ideal modern palace.

The Park Centre offers advice, craft sales, trout and venison sales, booking service for facilities and activities, and refreshments and confectionery.
